What this Privacy Policy covers
This Policy describes how CLITEDS treats information that identifies or relates to an identifiable individual (“Personal Data”) when you interact with our public websites (including forms), the Explore Hub, ambassador applications, news features, and related communications. It does not apply to information processed solely by third parties that we do not control (for example, a payment processor’s privacy practices on their own site), except as described here.
Personal data
“Personal Data” includes information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with you or your household, including names, contact details, account identifiers, device or network identifiers, and similar information as defined under applicable privacy laws (which may use terms such as “personal information” or “sensitive personal information”).
Categories of personal data we collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect the following categories of Personal Data:
- Profile and contact data, such as name, email address, country or region, and the contents of messages you send through contact forms or email.
- Explore Hub and program data, including information you submit in ambassador or mission applications (for example, bio, optional photo, and application text).
- Technical and device data, such as IP address, browser type, general location derived from IP, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps, collected through server logs and similar tools.
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described in the Cookies, analytics, and choices section.
We do not use this Policy to collect additional categories of Personal Data for materially different purposes without notice where required by law.
Purposes for processing personal data
We use Personal Data for purposes such as:
- Providing and improving the Services: responding to inquiries, processing applications, operating our sites, troubleshooting, analytics, and product development.
- Communications: sending operational messages, updates about this Policy or the Terms, and (where permitted) information about CLITEDS programs you have asked to hear about.
- Security and integrity: detecting abuse, fraud, or technical issues; enforcing our terms; and protecting the rights, safety, and property of CLITEDS, users, and the public.
- Legal compliance: meeting applicable legal, regulatory, or law-enforcement requirements.
Sources of personal data
- You, when you submit forms, email us, or otherwise provide information directly.
- Automatic collection, when you browse our sites (for example, through cookies and server logs), as described in this Policy.
- Service providers, for example when hosting or analytics vendors provide aggregated or technical information that we combine with data we already hold.
How we disclose personal data
We may disclose Personal Data to:
- Service providers: vendors who assist us with hosting, email delivery, analytics, security, or similar functions, subject to appropriate confidentiality and processing terms.
- Legal and safety: regulators, courts, or other parties when we believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will seek appropriate protections for your information.
We may create aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you. We may use and disclose such information for lawful business purposes.
Data security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect Personal Data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you should use strong passwords, protect your devices, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access to information you have shared with us.
Data retention
We retain Personal Data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law (for example, to resolve disputes or meet legal obligations). Retention periods depend on the nature of the data, how it is used, and applicable requirements.
Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed at children under 16 (or the age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children for targeted online services in violation of applicable law. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us at clitedscontact@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps.
U.S. state privacy rights
If you reside in certain U.S. states (including California, Colorado, Virginia, and others with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have rights to access, delete, or correct certain Personal Data we hold, or to opt out of certain processing such as “sales” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, depending on your state and the nature of our processing. The scope of these rights varies by law.
CLITEDS does not sell Personal Data for money as a core business practice. Where we use cookies or analytics, we configure them to align with our purposes described above and applicable law. If you believe a specific practice may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” under your state’s definition, contact us using the information below.
How to exercise your rights
To submit a privacy request (including access, deletion, or correction, where applicable), email us at clitedscontact@gmail.com with a description of your request. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights afforded by applicable law.
If we decline a request where appeal rights exist under your state’s law, we will explain how you may appeal or escalate the matter as required.
